The Story of the Autograph

Uwe Blab is a former center in the NBA. He played in the NBA from 1985 to 1990 with the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, and San Antonio Spurs. He later played overseas from 1990 to 1993 in Italy and Germany.

Blab is German and was born in Munich. He went to high school in Illinois where his high school team finished second in the state as a senior. He then went on to play for the Indiana Hoosiers in college. There he averaged 16 points per game as a senior and help the Hoosiers win a Big Ten championship and make it to the Elite Eight. He played for Germany in the 1984 Olympics before being drafted by the Mavericks in 1985 in the first round of the NBA Draft with the 17th overall pick.

He never really panned out in the NBA. He only ever started 34 games and 33 of those were while he was with Goldent State in 1990. That year he played for both the Warriors and the Spurs. Later in his career Blab admitted that he never really had a love for basketball and just sort of fell into the game.

Blab was known as the “Burning Skyskraper” since he was 7’2″ and had red hair.

The Score on Uwe Blab – 6.5

For having only seven letters in his name, he sure signs with good size. These cards just don’t give him much to work with though. He’s signing over very dark and/or busy images. But that’s a good amount of ink on there with the personalization, the number and the “Mavs” inscription (I think that’s what it says).

Thanks Mr. Blab! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
