The Story of the Autograph

Scott Eyre is a former left-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He worked as a reliever from 1997 to 2009 with the Chicago White Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies.

Eyre was born in California but grew up in Utah. He was offered a contract by the Indians after high school but instead went on to college. He went to the College of Southern Idaho and had a great season in 1991. The Texas Rangers then drafted him in the ninth round of the 1991 MLB Draft. But he wouldn’t make it to the majors with Texas. They traded him to the White Sox in 1994 for Esteban Beltre. He would make his major league debut three years later on August 1, 1997.

For his first year in the league he was a starter. Then into his second year the White Sox converted him to a relief role during the season and he continued as a reliever for the rest of his career. His best years in the league were 2005 with the Giants and 2006 with the Cubs. In 2005 he led the league in appearances with 86. His best year with any team had to be 2008 when he won the World Series with the Phillies.

After retiring from playing he became a high school coach where his son went to scool. His brother, Willie, coached for a rival school.

This is a good one from Scott. I love that I got a Phillies card signed because that’s where he won a championship. It helps that that is a great signature and the card really lets it stand out. I like how his “S” and “E” have some repetitiveness to them. At least I am assuming that’s the “E”.

Thanks Mr. Eyre! I’m giving this return a 7.
