The Story of the Autograph

Roy White is a former outfielder in the major leagues. He played from 1965 to 1979 with the New York Yankees. He then played from 1980 to 1982 with the Yomiuri Giants in Japan.

White is a native of Los Angeles, California. The Yankees signed him as an amateur free agent in 1961. He made his debut on September 7, 1965. He mostly played for the Yankees between their really strong, championship winning years in the 60’s and 70’s.

His best seasons were in 1969 and 1970 when he earned his two All-Star appearances. 1970 was definitely his best season as he hit a career high .296, had a career high 22 homers, a career high 94 RBI and 24 stolen bases. At the end of his career he was part of the Yankees championships in 1977 and 1978.

He retired and then moved on to Japan. He would also coach for the Yankees during the 80’s and later for the Oakland A’s.

The Score on Roy White – 6.5

Roy has a somewhat small signature. But that makes it fill pretty well into the open spot on the card that he could sign. So even though its a thin marker it helps it stick out. I think I have some more of Roy’s card now and I should probably attempt him again some time.

Thanks Mr. White! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
