Review / Preview – Week of 8/16

TTM Review Preview

This week I was putting away TTM returns from last month and I kind of noticed some funny holes. Nothing important, but odd holes.

So first just realize that I don’t really plan a lot of what I send out. Maybe aside from Mets, or lately I’ve been working “expansion” teams since 1993, or maybe getting more hockey out this year… I don’t really plan to send many specific things. So all things being equal, it should mean that I get back a good cross section of teams from a good cross section of years.

My example is what I was seeing as I looked at each year as I was organizing thing. For instance, I have no Cincinnati Reds from 1978 or 1978 Topps. I have no Dodgers from 1986 Topps. It’s not that those specific things bother me. I would really think that somehow I would have a card for those teams for those years… somehow.

There wasn’t too much of a rhyme or reason to where I was looking for holes, but based on how many cards I have signed in those years and how many for other teams, those kind of stuck out a bit. When I looked at teams in general, the teams I have with the lowest totals of unique cards are the Blue Jays, Astros, Braves, Reds and Cardinals. I probably have a lot of them in general, but for unique cards those are the lowest (aside from those expansion teams I am trying to… ahem… expand on).

There’s always something interesting you can find when you look at data.

Hope you are doing well!

The Review

Here’s what happened on the blog last week:

There wasn’t a #twofortuesday this week. But I could have maybe had a “three for Thursday”. I ended the week with three Daves in a row. I didn’t plan that either. I’m just running through my backlog list and I happened to get them in that order. Pretty odd how that stuff happens sometimes.

The Preview

Here’s what I have coming up for this week:

  • Monday: Be there in a Jeffy…
  • Tuesday: Vande Berg Industries…
  • Tuesday: How do you Beattie the competition…
  • Wednesday: Eat some Grubb…
  • Thursday: Scurry Gurry…
  • Friday: Lobster Thurmond-or…
  • Saturday: Rocky! Rocky!
  • Sunday: Combs your hair…

This week’s #twofortuesday folks have a Mariners theme. A lot of these are pretty easy to guess though. Lately I seem to be super easy or really stretching for something.

Other Notes

This week was BY FAR my best week in several months. I got be 23 returns! So far that is making for a really strong month of returns for August.

There were a good chunk of new guys to add to what I have with Dave Lemanczyk, Mark Thompson, Mike Hartley, Dave Cochrane, Time Redding and Pete Broberg. There were some more good coaching/team returns with Steve Foster, Bobby Jenks, and Butch Hobson too. On top of that, a few good old favorites.

Have a great week!
