The Story of the Autograph
Neil O’Donoghue is a former kicker in the NFL. He played from 1977 to 1985 with the Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and St. Louis Cardinals.
O’Donoghue is Irish and was born in Dublin, Ireland. He played Gaelic football when he was young and was one of the better players in his early teens. After playing soccer in Ireland he then came to the United States and played soccer at Saint Bernard College. The school’s soccer program closed and transferred to Auburn University. After watching just three games he became the teams kicker and was an All-American in 1976.
The Bills drafted him in the fifth round of the 1977 NFL Draft. They cut him just five games into his first season and he was picked up by the Bucs the next year. Those early years were tough for the Bucs franchise but he helped them improve their record while he was there.
He moved on to the St. Louis Cardinals, unfortunately missing a kick that would have gotten them to the playoffs in 1984.
After football he sold real estate and was a car salesman.
The Score on Neil O’Donoghue – 6.5
Neil puts a good amount of ink on your cards. But the card image is so busy that it’s really hard to get a good look at how his signature is. Those old 70’s images are are pretty dark or at least have a lot of contrast too.
Thanks Mr. O’Donoghue! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
