The Story of the Autograph

Mike Bielecki is a former pitcher in the majors who worked as both a starter and reliever over his long 14 years career from 1984 through 1997. He played for the Pirates, Cubs, Braves (twice) and Angels.

Bielecki was born and raised in Maryland and attended Loyola College of Maryland in 1977-’78. He only played one year in college because after that only season, the Greyhounds discontinued their baseball program. In the fal of 1978 he was drafted by the Pirates with the eighth overall pick. His debut came several years later on September 14, 1984.

His best year as a starter came in 1989 with the Cubs when he went 18-7 with a 3.14 ERA in 212.1 innings over 33 starts. He would finish ninth in the Cy Young voting that year and Steve Stone would nickname him “Boom Boom” for a big RBI single in a game against the Pirates. He also pitched the first night game at Wrigley the year before.

Mike has a really great signature. Te way he does his “M” is probably one of the coolest “Ms” I’ve seen in a signature. He also signs with good size too. I think the key is making sure to get a card that can really show his signature off.

Thanks Mr. Bielecki! I’m giving this return a 6.
