The Story of the Autograph
Ken Gerhart is a former outfielder in the major leagues. He played from 1986 to 1988 and spent his entire career with the Baltimore Orioles.
Gerhart was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He went to college at Middle Tennessee State University. After graduating was then drafted by Baltimore in the fifth round of the 1982 MLB Draft. Four years later he would make his debut on September 14, 1986. He played 20 games that first season and then he was used much more the next two seasons with over 90 games played in both 1987 and ’88.
His best season was 1987 when he played in 92 games and hit .243 with 14 home runs and 34 runs batted in. Unfortunately that represents not only career highs, but also most of his career numbers. Gerhart only played one more season after that. He was hit by a pitch in the wrist and it ended his major league career.
The Score on Ken Gerhart – 6.5
Ken has a signature with some really big letters and then some really small or flat letters. It’s all-or-nothing style I guess. I think with a little bit thicker marker it would stand out really well but on some of these cards they are just a little too busy or dark for them to really stick out well.
Thanks Mr. Gerhart! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
