The Story of the Autograph
Hunter Strickland is a right-handed relief pitcher in the major leagues. He’s been in the league since 2014 and has played with the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners and Washington Nationals. He just became a two-time World Series winner.
Strickland was born and raised in Georgia and was drafted by the Red Sox out of high school in the 18th round of the 2007 MLB Draft. In 2009 he was traded to the Pirates in an exchange that brought the Red Sox Adam LaRoche. He was then claimed in 2013 by the San Francisco Giants and later had Tommy John Surgery.
He was called up to the majors on September 1, 2014. Later that year he pitched in the NLDS and struck out Ian Desmond with the bases loaded to help the Giants win Game 1 and then recorded the save in Game 2 of the series. He also set a record of allowing six homers in the postseason, but the Giants still won the 2014 World Series against the Kansas City Chiefs.
He went back down to the minors for some of the 2015 season but did make it into 55 games and was one the 2016 Opening Day roster. He had a pretty famous brawl with Bryce Harper in 2017 after it seemed like he was still hurt by the two homers Harper hit off of him in the 2014 postseason. Earlier this year he signed with the Mariners and then was traded to the Nationals. I don’t think he appeared for them in the postseason, but he still earns that second championship.
The Score on Hunter Strickland – 6.5
It looks like Hunter has two “S’s” in his name by the way he signs things. But I like the style he has with it. I feel like I used to see a lot more guys treating all cards the same way, but now I see guys personalizing some and not others. If I had ask for something, I would have hoped the personalization went the other way, but that’s because I like the base card better than the Heritage card design. I’ve tried Hunter a bunch and this is my first success for him.
Thanks Mr. Strickland! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
