The Story of the Autograph
Eric Weinrich is a former defensemen who played in the National Hockey League from 1988 to 2006. During that time he played for the New Jersey Devils, Hartford Whalers, Chicago Blackhawks, Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues, and Vancouver Canucks.
Weinrich was born in Roanoke Virginia but grew up in Maine. He went on to attend the University of Maine. He was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in 1984 but it was an invalid pick as he hadn’t cleared the minimum age restrictions yet. He was back in the draft in 1985 and the Devils selected him with the 32nd overall pick. He bounced between the Devils AHL team and the big club until the 1990-91 season when he played in 76 games and made the All Rookie team. The Devils eventually traded him to the Whalers along with Sean Burke for Bobby Holik and draft picks.
After just a year he was traded to the Blackhawks and played there for several years before another trade to the Canadiens. Eventually there would be yet another trade to the Bruins. There would be still two more trades before his career closed out in 2006. He then went on to coach in the AHL, but also played for the team he signed on with for two more years.
He’s still involved in player development with the Devils.
The Score on Eric Weinrich – 5.0
Eric looks like he mostly signs his first name and then maybe the end of his last name. I’m not sure if these were two different markers or if the marker just started running out on him or something like that. The Bowman and Score cards look find but the Upper Deck and Pro Set cards are definitely not. The 1991 Pro Set is just busy anyway.
