The Story of the Autograph
Dave Chalk was an infielder who played in the majors from 1973 through 1981. Most of his career was with the California Angels, but he also spent time with the Rangers, Athletics, and Royals.
Dave grew up in Texas and was drafted by the Angels in the first round of the 1972 MLB Amateur Draft. He made it to the major by 1973 and played 24 games that season after debuting on September 4, 1973. In ’74 he was playing for the majority of the season for the Angels at third base and short stop and put together back-to-back All-Star seasons in 1974 and 1975.
In 1979 Chalk was traded by the Angels to the Rangers for Bert Campaneris in May. Then in June of that year he was traded with Mike Heath to the Athletics for John Henry Johnson. He signed with the Royals for the next two seasons and then ended his career in Kansas City in 1981
The Score on Dave Chalk – 4.5
Dave has a good signature but there are two things wrong with this one. First, the card I gave him to signs isn’t great. It’s got creases and isn’t in great shape. Second, the auto is smudge at the end of his name. Looks like maybe a finger print smudge.
Thanks Mr. Chalk! I’m giving this one a 4.5.
