The Story of the Autograph

Brent Lillibridge is a former major leaguer who played both in the infield and outfield. He played from 2008 to 2013 with the Atlanta Braves, Chicago White Sox, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs, and New York Yankees.

Lillibridge is a native of Washington state. He went to the University of Washington and was named to the All-Pac 10 Conference Team all three years he played for the Huskies. The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted him in the fourth round of the 2005 MLB Draft. He wouldn’t make his debut with them though. In 2007 the Pirates moved him, along with Mike Gonzalez, to the Braves in exchange for Adam LaRoche and Jamie Romak.

He debuted with the Braves the following season on April 26, 2013. He only appeared in 29 games with the big league club that year and split his time between Atlanta and Richmond. After the season the Braves traded him to the White Sox for Javier Vasquez and Boone Logan. They also sent Tyler Flowers and two other players to the Chicago.

He spent the most time with Chicago than any place else in his career. He was still a part time player during his time there. His best season was the one that gave him the most playing time. In 2011 he hit .258 with 13 homers, 29 RBI and 10 stolen bases. All of those aside from the stolen bases would be career highs. In the middle of the 2012 season he was traded to the Red Sox with Zach Stewart for Kevin Youkilis.

From there he just bounced around for the remainder of his career in stints with Boston, Chicago (the Cubs this time), and New York. In 2013 he signed with the Rangers but never made it to the majors with them. He was a free agent in 2014 and retired in 2015.

In 2011, Lillibridge hit MLBs 10,000th White Sox home run off of Dallas Braden.

The Score on Brent Lillibridge – 6.5

Brent did a pretty good job on these cards. The 2012 Topps came out the best by far, it’s just too bad how dark most of the image on that card is. It almost looks like he used two different pens on these. But I would bet that the finish on the 2008 Topps card just didn’t work as well. I feel like I’ve seen that happen on some cards from those years in past signings.

Thanks Mr. Lillibridge! I’m giving this return a 6.5 overall.
