The Story of the Autograph

Bill Brooks played wide receiver in the NFL from 1986 through 1996. He went to Boston University and the Colts drafted him in the fourth round of the 1986 NFL Draft.

With the Colts he was their leading receiver for five of the seven season he was in Indianapolis (1986 through 1992). His best season by far was his rookie year when he caught 65 passes for what would be a career high 1,131 yards and 8 touchdowns. He would get close to the thousand yard range again but the closest was 919 yards in 1989.

From there he moved on to the Bills where he would help take over for the retired James Lofton. He spent 1993 through 1995 with the Bills and would help them to an appearance in Super Bowl XXVIII. His had some pretty good seasons in Buffalo but his best was in 1995 when he made it into the end zone 11 times for a career high in touchdowns. His last year, 1996 was with the Washington Redskins.

The Score on Bill Brooks – 5.0

Bill has a pretty standard signature. Maybe he gets this from Jeff George, but he likes to put a lot on the card. Probably just a coincidence but they were both Colts… hmmm. So we’ve got personalization, a message, a number and a signature and for football cards that are already busy, that’s a lot to make work. It works best on the Pro Set Platinum cards. Bill also signed in two different colors and I wonder if that had to do with how that blue marker ended up looking.

Thanks Mr. Brooks! I’m giving this return a 5.
