The Story of the Autograph
Ben Oglivie had a long career in the major leagues. He played as an outfielder with the Red Sox, Tigers, and Brewers from 1971 through 1986.
In looking at Oglivie’s statistics, he really ended up doing his best work in the second half of his career while he was with the Brewers. Part of that has to do with playing time as while he was in Boston he never played more than 94 games or got more than 289 at bats. He played more while with the Tigers. But it was with the Brewers that he came into his own.
After moving to Milwaukee in 1978 he had his first .300+ season and batted .303 and would bat .304 two years later. He hit over .280 six of the nine years he was in Milwaukee. On top of that he started knocking the ball around a bit more. He led the league in homers in 1980 with 41, but he put up more than 25 two other times while he was a Brewer too and drov in more than one hundred runs twice.
Oglivie was a good part of the Brewers success in the early 80’s when they made their postseason runs in 1981 and 1982.
Check out my other post for my first return from Ben Oglivie.
The Score on Ben Oglivie – 6.0
It was nice to get some even older cards this time from Ben. The only downside was that the cards did what some older cards do… they bled. Still this was another great return and it’s good to see how reliable of a signer he is.
Thanks Mr. Oglivie! I’m giving this return a 6.
