I had a lot go out with the beginning of Spring Training and all and it was a pretty good month for success. I had 30 successful returns with 68 cards that came back in those envelopes. I take a 1+/day success ratio and a 2+/day volume ratio any month. I had some come back that were out there a while but the longest was Andy Ashby at 246 days. The one I rated the heist was good ol’ Daryl “Moose” Johnston.
But it was also a little different this month for failures. I got one a lot earlier into the month than I did last year. First Richard Sherman returned by Sports Illustrated unsigned. He sent an 8×10 but it wasn’t a real signature. It was a disappointment in that he’s signed another magazine for me before. I’m keeping it around to maybe try again another time.
The next two I got back were from Matt Wisler and Ender Inciarte at the Braves Spring Training location. I did a little checking online and it looks like people have experienced this with the Braves Spring Training before. But then I haven’t gotten back some others I sent there. I wonder if these were a little too early? I’m really not sure, but I decided to avoid the Braves for the rest of the spring. Another Spring Training return I got back from Matt Reynolds. I sent to the Mets and this came back after he was traded to the Nats. The interesting thing was that it was sent back in the SASE as if it was a success.
The last return I had was Todd Marinovich. I’ll have to do a little more research because it looks like I might have had the wrong address on this one.
Hoping for another good month in March!
