The Story of the Autograph
Willie McGinest is a former defensive end and linebacker in the National Football League. He played from 1994 to 2008 with the New England Patriots and the Cleveland Browns.
McGinest was born and raised in Long Beach, California. In high school he was all-state in football and basketball. When it came time to go to school he didn’t go far and played for the Trojans of USC. He was there from 1990 to 1993 he earned All-Conference and All-American honors during his time there. The New England Patriots drafted him in the the first round of the 1994 NFL Draft with the fourth overall pick.
He was a major part of the Patriots success during his time there. He was a two-time Pro Bowler (1996 and 2003) and the team won three Super Bowls in his time there in 2001, 2003 and 2004 as they started a football dynasty that still seems to be going today. Because the Patriots spent so many games in the postseason, that gave McGinest the opportunity to break the record for most postseason sacks in a game and a career with 4.5 and 16 respectively.
The Patriots released him in 2006 and he went on to play for the Cleveland Browns. They had hired his former defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel as the head coach. After three seasons in Cleveland he was done playing. The Patriots inducted him into their Hall of Fame in 2015. These days McGinest works with the NFL Network as an analyst.
The Score on Willie McGinest – 8.0
When I first saw that Willie signed I was kind of surprised. I felt like he’d be tough to get but he seems to be a really good signer. My biggest problem is that I don’t have a lot (or really any) of his cards. But I love these old Classic 4-Sport cards. They have great pictures and so far most of the autographs I have them come out really well.
Thanks Mr. McGinest! I’m giving this return an 8.
