The Story of the Autograph
Tim Redding is a former right-handed pitcher who worked mostly as a starter in the major leagues. He played in eight seasons between 2001 and 2009 with the Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, Washington Nationals, and New York Mets. He also played for the Samsung Lions in the KBO.
Redding is a native of the Rochester, New York area. He went to Monroe Community College after high school and was drafted in the 20th round of the 1997 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros. After several years in the minors he made his major league debut on June 24, 2001. He played the most significant period of time for the Astros in his career – four years between 2001 and 2004. The Astros then traded him to the San Diego Padres before the 2005 season.
He played half a season for the Padres before Moving on to the Yankees with Darrell May for Paul Quantrill. He moved around a lot after that starting with a minor league stint with the Chicago White Sox and he saw no major league action with them. He then appeared with the Nationals and Mets in his final three years in the league.
He would continue with a few teams but never made it back to the majors. He played in the KBO with the Samsung Lions though. After his plying days he was a pitching coach in the Nationals minor league system.
The Score on Tim Redding – 7.0
Tim has a nice signature and it came out well on these cards. I like that I have cards of him as an Astro, where he spent most of his career, and the Nationals, where I saw him play the most. I think my favorite of these cards might be the 2008 Topps card because I think of him mostly as a National.
Thanks Mr. Redding! I’m giving this return a 7.
