The Story of the Autograph

Steve Sax, born on January 29, 1960, in Sacramento, California, is known for his standout career as a Major League Baseball second baseman. He was drafted by the Dodgers out of high school by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the ninth round of the 1978 MLB Draft. Sax made his MLB debut with the Dodgers in 1981, and his arrival coincided with a World Series victory that same year.

Sax’s remarkable speed and defense quickly established him as a key player for the Dodgers. In 1982, Sax was named the National League Rookie of the Year after batting .282 and stealing 49 bases. His aggressive baserunning and solid defense earned him a Silver Slugger Award and five All-Star selections throughout his career. He was also a two-time World Series champion with the Dodgers in 1981 and 1988.

Sax played for multiple teams during his 14-year career, including the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, and Oakland Athletics. Although his career was not without challenges, particularly some struggles with fielding errors early on, Sax’s perseverance and talent made him a well-respected player.

Beyond baseball, Steve Sax has also ventured into business and broadcasting, and he even pursued a brief acting stint. His leadership skills also led him to a role as a first base coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Sax’s resilience both on and off the field has made him an inspiring figure in the sports world.

The Score on Steve Sax – 6.5

BraveSTARR Score LogoBraveSTARR Score 6.5

Steve has something on the verge of a small signature. But I think in the end it’s about normal size. I think a little bit thicker marker helps it look better. But in the end it’s not like his name is very big either. I think my favorite from these is the 1987 Topps. I think I’ll have to find one of him maybe on a 1988 card to get closer to a big moment in his career.

Thanks Mr. Sax! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
