The Story of the Autograph
Scott Sullivan is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He worked as a reliever during a ten year career that spanned from 1995 to 2004. During that time he played mostly for the Cincinnati Reds, but also for the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals at the end of his career.
Sullivan was born and raised in Alabama. He went on to play baseball at Auburn where he was drafted twice before signing. First he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 39th round of the 1993 MLB Draft, but didn’t sign. Then he was drafted by the Reds in the second round of the 1993 MLB Draft and signed with them. He made his major league debut two years later on May 6, 1995.
He didn’t play much in his first two major league seasons and was up and down. But from 1997 through 2003 he was a a very reliable and reliever. He made as many as 79 appearances three consecutive seasons from 1999 to 2001. He also pitched more than 100 innings in four consecutive seasons from 1998 to 2001. His best season was probably 2001 when he pitched in 79 games with 103.1 innings pitched and put up a 7-1 record with a 3.31 ERA.
The side-armer was part of a 96-win Reds team that didn’t make the postseason. They unfortunately lost to the Mets in 1999 in a one-game playoff. In 2003 he ended his Reds tenure when they traded him to the Chicago White Sox for Tim Hummel and cash. He played one more season in Kansas City where he went as a free agent before his time in the majors was done.
The Score on Scott Sullivan – 7.0
Scott does a really great job on these. His “S” is amazing but it’s awesome that he gets to repeat it. That leads to the interlocking loops and the first name sort of inside on of the loops. It’s sort of a mix of detail from the other parts of his name and then not as much with those “Ss”. Really cool and all these came out great on the cards.
Thanks Mr. Sullivan! I’m giving this return a 7.
