The Story of the Autograph
Scott Brooks is a head coach and former point guard in the NBA. He played for the 76ers, Timberwolves, Rockets, Mavericks, Knicks, and Cavaliers in the NBA from 1988 to 1998. He currently is the head coach of the Washington Wizards.
Brooks was born and raised in California. After high school he started his college career at TCU and then transferred to a junior college closer to home for his Sophomore year. He closed out his college career at the University of California, Irvine. He wasn’t drafted into the NBA and started his professionally in the CBA with the Albany Patrons, they won a CBA Champioship in his first year. He then went on to the World Basketball League before finally making it to the 76ers in 1988.
He was a member of the Houston Rockets NBA Championship winning squad in 1994. Other than that he was a backup. In fact he only started seven games in his career and that was within his first two seasons. But maybe a lot of riding the bench contributed to his coaching. He won the NBA Coach of the Year award in 2010 as a coach of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Score on Scott Brooks – 7.5
Scott has a pretty cool signature and I think that it helps that it was in silver. It certainly helps to be in silver on these Skybox cards specifically. I didn’t know if he did it purposefully for this card or not, but I don’t think he did. I saw other returns around this time from him that also were in silver.
