The Story of the Autograph
Sal Romano is a right-handed pitcher with the Cincinnati Reds organization. He started his career in Cincinnati in 2017 and has only played for the Reds.
Romano was born on Long Island, New York but grew up in Southington, Connecticut. He was aiming to go to the University of Tennessee until the Reds drafted him in the 23rd round of the 2011 MLB Draft. He spent time in Billings, Dayton, Daytona, Pensacola, and Louisville before appearing in the majors. He debuted on April 16, 2017.
In his first season he was purely a starter. He went 5-8 with a 4.45 ERA in 16 starts. He started 2018 as a starter and then worked into the bullpen. By last year (2019), he worked exclusively out of the bullpen. This season he was designated for assignment on February 5th, but he currently is on the Reds 60-man roster for this shortened season as a non-roster invite.
Romano got his best chance in 2018 but just hasn’t been able to put it together so far. In that season he got more than half of the wins and losses he has for his career (14-19) and he currently has a 5.17 ERA as his ERA has risen each year and hit seven-plus last season. At this point, if Romano plays this year, the best hope is that he stays safe and healthy no matter what.

These were two overlapping returns. The first return I got back was sent just before they were calling players back to “Summer Camp”. That was sent to him in Connecticut. The second return on the other hand is technically a Spring Training success from 2019. That one was gone for so long that I had written it off. As for his signature, I love how big it is. He’s got a matching style to his big capital letters that looks cool.
