The Story of the Autograph
Rick Fenney played in the backfield of the Minnesota Vikings for five seasons from 1987 through 1991. He grew up in Washington and went to the University of Washington. After playing for the Huskies the Vikings drafted him in the eighth round of the 1987 NFL Draft with the 211th overall pick.
Most of Fenney’s seasons were mediocre, but then Rick wasn’t really a top running back. But in 1989 Rick got a lot more chances than he did all of his other years. He had career highs across the board with 151 carries for 588 yards and four touchdowns. He also added 30 catches for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns. Almost all those numbers are in the neighborhood of double his next best year in that category. Plus a lot of those number represent somewhere between a third and a half of his career totals.
The Score on Rick Fenney – 5.5
I would describe Rick’s autograph as scratchy. I guess the size of the marker he used kind of contributes to that feeling. Sometimes that size marker almost etches the cards like a ball point does. That happened a little bit with these, but that little marker also doesn’t really stick out as well on the cards.
Thanks Mr. Fenney! I’m giving these a 5.5.
