I don’t want this to be a depressing Review / Preview, but this weekend marked 25 years since my Dad passed away. I was talking about it with my brother last night and remembering things from back then. Like where we were in our lives, how we felt then and after, how we dealt with it, etc..
One thing he brought up, and it’s been this way for a few years but we both just realized it… we’ve lived longer now without our Dad than we did with him. I realize that some people still have their parents around (I hope a lot of you) and some lost their parents early, so this thought is relative to that. But it just seemed crazy that that was the case.
My Dad was a hilarious guy and my brother and I take after him. He would love when we were around so we could tell jokes and make him and his friends laugh. He would always want us to tell things rather then him tell it. Yet he loved being the life of the party. At the same time, he had his flaws that we all dealt with and tried to help him deal with.
I think of the biggest things I wish I could still have him here for is my kids. He would have loved his grandkids and we probably wouldn’t have been able to keep him away when it came to going out and seeing the things they do. While it might not be sports, he could be a very supporting guy.
He was a big sports fan though and loved baseball. He brought me into my fandom families and I love that tie back to the teams I root for.
Stay safe and healthy out there!
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: Jerry Reed
- Tuesday: Richard Dotson, Bob Sweeney
- Wednesday: Scott McGregor
- Thursday: Gary Anderson
- Friday: Bill Stein
- Saturday: Tom Rathman
- Sunday: Garth Iorg
This week is was back to normal with posting from the backlog. No theme though. One thing I noticed is that there were a lot of old standbys in the list. Jerry Reed, Scott McGregor and Garth Iorg and guys I’ve gotten a lot of returns from in the past.
The Preview
Here’s what I have coming up for this week:
- Monday: Call me Ismail…
- Tuesday: It’s the kind of warnings I give…
- Tuesday: When you die in the water…
- Wednesday: Ry Guy…
- Thursday: A Patsy…
- Friday: Started his own genre of rock music…
- Saturday: I’ll have some OJ…
- Sunday: Bob, b, b, Bob…
I’m back to having a theme for the #twofortuesday posts. This week it’s gonna be all New York (whenever I think of that I sing Alicia Keys). The hints above are very generic and random. A bit like the posts I guess.
Other Notes
A strong ending to the week make it turn out to be pretty good. I had 25 returns this week and only one failure. It was a pretty good mix of guys I hadn’t received before.
There were a couple stragglers including Pete Schourek who sent back one that I sent him 627 days prior and then another one that I just send him 23 days prior (I had written off the first). The other interesting straggler that was long was Kyle Freeland who returned a Spring Training success from February of 2020.
The failure was from Stan Humphries who is no longer at Louisiana-Monroe. But I wonder if he was two years ago when I actually sent it. Those old failures are always funny.
The new Recent TTM Success is updated.
Have a great week!
