So last week after a tough loss in the A10 final, the Mason men’s team came back to win at home against Samford in the NIT. It was a great game and was really impressive after such a hard fought championship game. They definitely could have had a let down game. But then yesterday I watched them lost to Bradley. They made a nice comeback but ultimately couldn’t pull it out. Bradley is pretty impressive in shooting from three and I think is like third in the country in three point percentage. While Mason has a great defense, they just couldn’t pull it out yesterday.
Then last night I watched the Mason women’s team lose to FSU. They fought hard and had it within 10 at the start of the fourth quarter. But they couldn’t stay with FSU from there and got blown out in that final quarter. They had a rough start which was definitely tough, but they made some comebacks to get closer, but still too far away to fully come back. Then FSU just blew their doors off in the final ten minutes.
One thing I will go back to is that the A10 final was one of the most intense sporting events I have ever been too. I’ve been to other championship games (World Series, MLS Finals), but this was different. The element of the crowd being 50/50 was probably the biggest part of that. When do you really get that from a championship game. Add the bands, the rivalry/history, etc… then pile on that it was a great game with a pretty close ending… fun to be there despite the result.
I hope everyone is enjoyed their weekend and has a great week!
The Review
Here’s what happened on the blog last week:
- Monday: Tim Stoddard
- Tuesday: Chris Donnels, Andy Stankiewicz
- Wednesday: Greg Olson
- Thursday: Brian Propp
- Friday: Dave Lemanczyk
- Saturday: Phil Stephenson
- Sunday: Terry Clark
I had a theme for the #twofortuesday this week with all New York players. I actually could have done one for San Diego too. It feels like there are certain teams or cities that end up popping up a lot in these Tuesday posts. I’d like to get some more variety but I’m always just digging through the oldest in the backlog.
The Preview
Here’s what I have coming up for this week:
- Monday: The funky homosapien…
- Tuesday: Hughes go what I need…
- Tuesday: Blass from the past…
- Wednesday: Ranford the table…
- Thursday: You’re Fireovid…
- Friday: Flat Stanley…
- Saturday: Sonny D (but it’s a J)…
- Sunday: Goltz for it…
This week I won’t really have a #twofortuesday theme. Instead I will have a theme for the whole week. We’re going with 80’s lyrics!
Other Notes
Things have been so up and down this year. Last week I went from 22 returns down to 14. That’s not a bad total, but it feels like it’s been a roller coaster of return numbers.
Those 14 were all successes – so that’s good. There were two pretty good stragglers in there from Mike Liut at 711 days and Brett Butler at 412 days. Those both came yesterday so the rest of the week was all pretty recent stuff. I also go t back a paid return from Manny Sanguillen who I had been meaning to send to for a while.
The Recent TTM Success page will be updated next weekend.
Have a great week!
