The Story of the Autograph

Randy Bush is a former outfielder and designated hitter who played his entire career with the Minnesota Twins. He was with them from 1982 through 1993 and was a part of both of their World Championship winning teams.

Bush played his college ball at the University of New Orleans (and has since been a long-time resident of the area) and then was drafted by the Twins in the second round of the 1979 MLB Draft. He made his debut three years later on May 1, 1982. He played in the outfield, a little first bast, and was a designated hitter to start, but he had a great career particularly as a pinch hitter.

From 1986 to 1989 he was playing in over 120 games a season and picked up more than 400 at bats in those years. While he had a career high .303 average in 1991, he average for his career was only .251 and he never hit as close to .300 in any other then the .269 he hit in 1986. In six of his twelve year he hit double digit homers but not more than 14 which he did in consecutive years in 1988 and 1989. He surpassed 50 RBI in those years as well in addition to 1983.

When his playing career was over he coached for his alma mater from 2000 to 2005. Since 2005 he’s been part of the Cubs front office and has stayed with them even through some changes in the leadership of the club and he currently shares assistant GM duties with them.

The Score on Randy Bush – 5.0

Randy has a pretty simple signature. Its actually quite “flowy” (because I can’t think of how else to say that). I think the fact that he doesn’t have a long name but it stretches across the card gives me that feel. I’ve never tried to send to Randy before so I was glad to get this return back and I’ll have to find some of my favorite cards of his to send to him again. This first try I send some that weren’t necessarily my favorites just in case I didn’t get them back.

Thanks Mr. Bush! I’m giving this return a 5.
