The Story of the Autograph
Mike Kingery is a former outfielder in the major leagues. He played from 1986 to 1996 with the Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates.
Kingery was born and raised in Minnesota. He wasn’t drafted and the Royals signed him in 1979 as an amateur free agent. He wouldn’t make his major league debut for the Royals until July 7, 1986. But after making his debut that year, he was traded before the end of the calendar year and went to Seattle. He had his longest stint with any team while with the Mariners. After the Mariners he moved to a bunch of different teams as a free agent.
When he got a chance to play a good chunk of games in a season he wasn’t too bad a hitter. He put up a .349 average in 105 games, but only 346 plate appearances in 1994 with the Rockies. But his best overall year was probably 1987 in Seattle. He hit .280 with 9 home runs and 52 RBI (the last two career highs).
The Score on Mike Kingery – 7.0
Mike has a pretty fun autograph. His first name seems a bit bunched up but his last name really looks cool with the way he the “K” and then how he makes the “gery” really loopy at the and. Of course filling up the card is always a good thing in my book too.
Thanks Mr. Kingery! I’m giving this one a 7.
