The Story of the Autograph
Max Muncy is a first baseman currently playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He’s been playing in the major leagues since 2015.
Muncy was born and raised in Texas. He was originally drafted in the 41st round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians, but chose not to sign and instead attended Baylor University. After three years at Baylor he was drafted in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB Draft, this time by the Oakland Athletics. He made his major league debut with the A’s on April 25, 2015.
Unfortunately, Muncy didn’t do all that much in limited time with the A’s in 2015 and 2016. He was cut at the end of Spring Training in 2017. Fortunately for him, he went to the Dodgers and after one year in their minor league system he got back to the majors for good in April 2018. He’s had two great season of batting in the mid-.200s and hitting 35 homers each year to help the Dodger to some post season success. Not enough success for a World Series win, but he’s a big part of that team playing well.
He made the All-Star team in 2019 as an injury replacement and was injured late in 2019. But things are looking good for him after he signed a three-year contract extension in February 2020.
The Score on Max Muncy – 6.0
Max has what I would call a chicken scratch type of signature. But to me this is one of those great signatures to have as Max has achieved some star status.
I did get these after the whole issue he brought up on social media about people sending things to his house. That, like a lot of things, got blown out of proportion of course and there was a bit of a reaction against him from some folks. The guy was just asking you to consider that it’s cutting into his personal life and asking for us to send to the team. I don’t see why we can respect that. I’m definitely going to do so if I attempt to send other cards to Max in the future.
Thanks Mr. Muncy! I’m giving this return a 6.
