The Story of the Autograph
Martin Biron, born on August 15, 1977, in Lac-Saint-Charles, Quebec, Canada, enjoyed a distinguished 16-year career as an NHL goaltender. Known for his agility, consistency, and affable personality, Biron became a fan favorite and later transitioned into a respected hockey analyst.
Biron’s journey to the NHL began when the Buffalo Sabres selected him 16th overall in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut as an 18-year-old on December 26, 1995. After developing his skills in the minors, he became a regular for the Sabres, eventually becoming their starting goaltender. During the 2001–02 season, Biron set career highs with 72 games played and 31 wins, tying the franchise record for games played in a single season at the time.
In February 2007, Biron was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers. He played a pivotal role in the Flyers’ 2008 playoff run, leading them to the Eastern Conference Finals. That postseason, he posted a 9–8 record with a 2.97 goals-against average and one shutout in 17 games.
Biron signed with the New York Islanders for the 2009–10 season, appearing in 29 games. He then joined the New York Rangers in 2010, serving as a reliable backup to Henrik Lundqvist. Over four seasons with the Rangers, Biron compiled a 22–15–3 record, with a 2.47 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.
On October 20, 2013, Biron announced his retirement from professional hockey. He concluded his NHL career with 508 games played, a 230–191–52 record, a 2.61 goals-against average, .910 save percentage, and 28 shutouts.
Post-retirement, Biron transitioned into broadcasting. He became a studio analyst for the Buffalo Sabres on MSG Western New York, providing pregame, intermission, and postgame analysis. Additionally, he contributed to TSN and the NHL Network, sharing his insights and expertise.
Biron became a U.S. citizen in 2017, reflecting his deep ties to the Buffalo community. He continues to reside in Western New York with his wife, Anne Marie, and their four children.

Martin doesn’t seem to have much to his signature. I think my first thought is that the loops would have something to do with his “B”. But then it looks like he includes that in there. The is also a case where aesthetically I would have loved a black marker. But then that would get caught up in the black on the card.
