The Story of the Autograph
Lonnie Young played in the NFL for twelve seasons. He played at safety and some cornerback for four teams: the St. Louis/Phoenix Cardinals, the New York Jets twice, and the San Diego Chargers.
Young went to school at Michigan State after being born and raised in Flint Michigan. The Cardinals (then in St. Louis) drafted him in the 12th round of the 1985 NFL Draft with the 325th pick. He spent six years with the Cardinals with time spent evenly in St. Louis and Phoenix as the Cardinals made the move in 1988. His rookie year he had his career high in interceptions with 3 while starting 10 of the 16 games in that 1985 season.
You can see by the cards he signed that Lonnie made the move to the Jets in the 1991 season. He played in New York for three seasons, headed out to San Diego for a season, and then spent his last two seasons with the Jets again. His career totals were 11 interceptions with 63 return yards, 1 forced fumble, 14 fumble recoveries and 3.5 sacks.
These days he works as a scout for the Baltimore Ravens.
The Score on Lonnie Young – 5.0
OH NO! The dreaded ball point pen. Just looking at what Lonnie puts on a card, this would have been great with a marker. He’s got his name, his number, what looks like “Cardinals,” and also what comes off as a smiley face with maybe a tongue sticking out. I’m not sure if this is usually what he signs with or not. I really like it so it’s kind of disappointing for it to be in ball point.
Thanks Mr. Young! I’m giving these a 5.
