The Story of the Autograph
Kyle Freeland is a left-handed starting pitcher with the Colorado Rockies. He debuted in 2017 and has been with the Rockies his whole career to this point.
Freeland was born and raised in Colorado. The Phillies originally drafted him out of high school in the 35th round of the 2011 MLB Draft, but he chose to attend Evansville and not sign with them. By 2014 he was considered a top prospect and the Rockies drafted him in 2014 with the eighth overall pick. After a couple years in the minors he made his debut on April 7, 2017 against the Dodgers. It actually marked the first time since 1951 that a starting pitcher debuted in his team’s home opener in the state he was born.
He finished 2017 with an 11-11 record and 4.10 ERA. But 2018 was a great year for Freeland. He was 17-7 with a 2.85 ERA and 173 strikeouts and helped the Rockies to the playoffs. He pitched in the NL Wild Card Game and 6.2 innings, shutting out the Cubs and striking out six. The Rockies would go on to win in 13-innings.
2019 hasn’t been a good year thus far for Freeland. As I write this he is 2-6 with a 7.13 ERA and has just been demoted to AAA. I hope he can turn this year around.

Kyle has a sort of “chicken scratch” style autograph. I like his signature on both cards because both types of cards always look good signed. But I think it game out a lot better looking on the Allen & Ginter card because you can see it a lot better.
