The Story of the Autograph

Keith Millard played as a defensive tackle in the USFL and the NFL for nine seasons. Keith played for the Jacksonville Bulls, Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles from 1985 through 1993. Millard was born and raised in California and went college at Washington State University. He started out as a tight end but moved on to defensive tackle in his sophomore year. In his senior year he was voted first-team All-Pac-10 and won the Morris Trophy as the conferences top defensive lineman.

Millard was drafted in the first round of the 1984 NFL draft with the 13th overall pick, but he went to the USFL in 1985. Then later that year he went to the Vikings when the USFL folded. In 1988 and 1989 he made the Pro Bowl and First-team All-Pro after being Second-team All-Pro in 1986 and 1987. He holds the NFL record for most sacks in a single season by a defensive tackle with 18. He did that in 1989 and was name NFL Defensive Player of the Year that season.

In 1990 he suffered a major knee injury that caused him to miss the rest of that season. He came back to play the next year, but he wasn’t the same for the rest of his career.

Treating cards with an eraser lately had really been doing the trick. I thought I would have done that to these cards Keith signed, but maybe that’s not really what did it. The only card that came out without a smudge or a rub was the 1990 Fleer card. That was the only one he didn’t personalize too. The others either rubbed on the other cards, or they had a fingerprint smudge on them. Keith has an OK signature. I think it’s funny that he signed so loopy and Bryan Millard signed more jagged.

Thanks Mr. Millard! I’m giving these a 4.
