The Story of the Autograph
Juan Pierre is a former outfielder in the major leagues. He played from 2000 to 2013 with the Colorado Rockies, Florida Marlins (twice), Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago White Sox, and Philadelphia Phillies.
Pierre was born in Alabama but grew up in Louisiana. He first went to Galveston College and then would go back to Alabama for and played for the University of South Alabama where he was the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year in 1998. He was drafted by the Rockies in the 13th round of the 1998 MLB Draft. He was drafted twice before that by the Mariners but never signed. He would make his major league debut for Colorado two years later on August 7, 2000.
He had several good seasons but was never an All-Star caliber player. He played in all 162 games from 2003 to 2007. He was quick and a great base stealer, leading the league in 2001 (46), 2003 (65), and 2010 (68). Of course having stolen base totals high enough to lead the league means you must be getting on base, and he was a pretty good hitter. He hit as high as .327 in his career and had a .295 average for his career.
His best team success was in 2003 as a member of the Marlins, then called the Florida Marlins. They beat the Yankees in six games that season. Pierre his .333 for the Series with a stolen base.
The Score on Juan Pierre – 6.0
I’ve had Juan sign a few cards while he was playing. This might have actually been a double of one of those. I think the other returns I have from him in the past were better than this one. The image on this one is dark and busy and doesn’t give as good a chance for a high score. What I would like to try to find is a card of him in a Marlins uniform but I didn’t collect much during those years he played there.
Thanks Mr. Pierre! I’m giving this return a 6.
