The Story of the Autograph
Josh VanMeter is a second baseman and outfielder. He’s been a major league player from 2019 to 2022 with the Cincinnati Reds, Arizona Diamondbacks and Pittsburgh Pirates. He is currently in the Yankees organization.
VanMeter is a native of Indiana. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the fifth round of the 2013 MLB Draft. The Padres traded him to the Reds in 2016 to complete an earlier traded involving Luis Torrens. He made his major league debut for them on May 5, 2019. He would be traded two more times, the first to the Diamondbacks with Stuart Fairchild for Archie Bradley in 2020 and then to the Pirates for a minor league player. Since then he’s moved around as a free agent.
His best shot in the majors was in 2021 when he appeared in 112 games. He hit six homers and had 36 RBI with a .212 batting average. Those six homers weren’t a career high as he had eight in his first 95 games with the Reds in 2019. He hasn’t played in the majors since 2022 when he was with the Pirates for 67 games.
The Score on Josh VanMeter – 6.5
Josh has a pretty quick signature. It’s a sort of standard zig zag pattern. It almost looks like he signs with a “V.” as part of his last name. This is a good example of who those 2020 Topps cards come out. They very rarely take the signature very well and that is definitely frustrating. Good thing I don’t collect much current stuff.
Thanks Mr. VanMeter! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
