The Story of the Autograph

Josh Collmenter is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 2011 to 2017 primarily with the Diamondbacks but also spent time with the Braves.

Collmenter was born and raised in Homer, Michigan. While growing up he used to throw tomahawks which resulted in a very overhand pitching motion and the nickname “Tomahawk.” He played basketball and football as well in high school and helped his school to a state championship. He went on to attend Central Michigan University and then he was drafted by the Diamondbacks in the 15th round of the 2007 MLB Draft.

After several years in the minors he made his major league debut on April 17th, 2011. He worked as both a starter and a reliever in his career. His best season was probably 2015 when he went 11-9 with a 3.46 ERA in 28 starts and 33 appearances. In 2016 the Diamondbacks designated him for assignment and released him. He signed a deal with the Cubs who then traded him to the Braves that September. He pitched one more season before becoming a free agent.

More recently Collmenter was a coach for the New Zealand national baseball team U15 development squad. He then started playing in the Australian Baseball League for an Expansion team based in New Zealand.

The Score on Josh Collmenter – 6.5

This was one of those guy I felt like I had to try when I could. I don’t have very many cards of his so there wasn’t much to use to send to him that I had doubles of. I’ve been really trying to get more guys to sign who played for the Diamondbacks, Marlins, Rockies, and Rays so this definitely helps bump my numbers for those teams.

Thanks Mr. Collmenter! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
