The Story of the Autograph

Jim Poole is a former left-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1990 to 2000 with the Dodgers, Rangers, Orioles, Indians (three times), Giants, Phillies, Tigers, and Expos.

Poole was born in New York and raised in Pennsylvania. He then attended Georgia Tech from 1985 to 1988. He was drafted twice by the Dodgers in 1987 and 1988. He ultimately signed the second time after being drafted in the 9th round. He made his debut two years later on June 15, 1990 for the Dodgers.

Poole was always a relief pitcher throughout his career. Because of that he tended to jump around a lot like a lot of relievers. The most significant time he spent with any team at once was the Orioles where he spent part of 1991 through 1994. But he spent the same amount of years in Cleveland, they just happened to be in three different stints with the Indians.

With all the moving around in his career, his “transaction” stats might be the best:

  • Drafted twice
  • Traded twice
  • Selected Off of Waivers once
  • Signed as a Free Agent seven times

The Score on Jim Poole – 7.0

Jim has a really solid signature and it looks great on these cards. He used a really strong marker. I think my favorite part of his autograph is his “J”. I love the triangle he makes with it and then the way he uses the bottom as a line to finish out his first name.

Thanks Mr. Poole! I’m giving this return a 7.
