The Story of the Autograph
Jeremy Sowers is a former left-handed starting pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 2006 and 2009 and spent his entire career with the Cleveland Indians.
Sowers was born in Ohio and went to high school in Louisville Kentucky. He was a great high school player and would be Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year, Mr. Baseball in the state and the Kentucky High School Coaches Association Athlete of the Year. That was enough for the Cincinnati Reds to take him 20th overall in the first round of the 2001 MLB Draft. Instead of signing he chose to go to Vanderbilt. He continued his success in college and was then drafted by the Indians with the sixth overall pick in the 2004 MLB Draft.
After success in the minors he made his major league debut on June 25, 2006. In his first season he had his only winning year with a career high 7 wins and four losses and a 3.57 ERA in fourteen starts. Unfortunately he could keep up that success and his ERA went up to 6.42 to the following season and then over 5 in his final two seasons in the majors.
Since leaving the majors he earned his MBA and worked in corporate strategy for Wal-Mart. He then went to baseball operations with the Orioles. These days he works for the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Score on Jeremy Sowers – 6.5
Jeremy doesn’t have much of a signature size-wise. It’s definitely a small signature but I think what makes it different than other small signatures is that he used a thicker marker. That definitely gives it more volume even if its small. The Bowman Heritage just shows off that signature so well.
Thanks Mr. Sowers! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
