The Story of the Autograph
Jack Savage is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1987 to 1990 with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins.
Savage is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. He went to the University of Kentucky for college and then was drafted by the Dodgers in the eighth round of the 1985 MLB Draft. He made his first major league appearance two years later on September 14, 1987. He pitched in three games that first season but ended up with no record and a 2.70 ERA. Later that year he was traded to the Mets as part of a three team trade involving Matt Young, Bob Welch, Alfredo Griffin, Kevin Tapani, Wally Whitehurst, and Jesse Orosco.
He never appeared for the Mets in the majors though. Instead he was traded in October of 1989 to the Twins as a player to be named later along with Kevin Tapani, Rick Aguilera, Tim Drummond and David West for Frank Viola. In 1990, the following season he would make it into 17 games as a Twin and go 0-2 with a 8.31 ERA. He wouldn’t pitch in the majors again with his last appearance being on September 14, 1990 (the third anniversary of his debut).
The Score on Jack Savage – 6.5
Jack doesn’t have too bad a signature. I think the issue on this one is really that the marker wasn’t really doing so hot. It’s not exactly dead, but it seems to be lacking a bit. I do like that I got him in the uniforms of the three teams he played for. Or rather, the two teams he played for and the one he was in the organization of.
Thanks Mr. Savage! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
