The Story of the Autograph

Greg Kite is a former center in the NBA. He played in the league for twelve seasons and during that time was part of two championship winning teams with the Boston Celtics. He also played with the Los Angeles Clippers, Charlotte Hornets, Sacramento Kings, Orlando Magic, New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers during a career that spanned from 1983 to 1995.

Kite is a native of Houston, Texas. He started playing basketball around 10 and ended up playing basketball only by 15 since he was so tall by then. His high school team lost in the state finals when he was a senior. He was a McDonald’s All-American and went on to play for Brigham Young University. He was drafted by the Celtics in the 1983 NBA Draft with the 21st overall pick in the first round.

He was definitely not an offensive-minded player during his career, not with a career 2.5 points per game. But he was always known as a hard worker off the bench. After his time with those really strong Celtics team he spent most of his career with either expansion or just lesser teams for the most part. That did give him a chance at more playing time, especially in Orlando.

These days he’s a financial advisor.

The Score on Greg Kite – 5.5

Greg has a pretty good signature but like with a lot of basketball cards, its really tough to see that. The 1992 Topps cards are almost impossible to see, but unfortunately you can see where the one is smudged. The funny thing about that one to me is that he has to be bringing down a rebound, but it almost looks like his own teammate is trying to block his shot.

Thanks Mr. Kite! I’m giving these a 5.5 overall.
