The Story of the Autograph
Gary Mielke is a former major league relief pitcher. He played during three seasons from 1987 to 1990, all with the Texas Rangers.
Mielke was born and raised in Minnesota. He went to Minnesota State University and was drafted in the 26th round of the 1985 MLB Draft by the Rangers. He made his major league debut two years later on August 19, 1987. He only pitched in three innings in three games in that first chance in the Big Show.
His next opportunity wouldn’t come until 1989 after going back down to the majors. He got a better chance in 1989 with 43 appearances and then in 1990 with another 33 appearances. But after the 1990 season he wouldn’t appear in the majors again with his last game being September 30, 1990. His career numbers are a 1-3 record with a 3.56 ERA in 79 games and 93.2 innings pitched.
The Score on Gary Mielke – 6.5
This might be the most solid autograph I’ve seen. I don’t mean that as “meh, it’s solid.” What I mean is that it’s a think marker and it is a big chunk of ink and that thing is SOLID. “G” is definitely a letter you can put some style into and Gary certainly did that. Also, the blue marker goes so well with these, although it does get hidden on some.
Thanks Mr. Mielke! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
