The Story of the Autograph
Frank Stams is a former linebacker in the National Football League. He played from 1989 through 1995 for the Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Browns and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Stams was born and raised in Ohio. He was part of back-to-back state titles in high school in football. He also was part of a state basketball title as well and he also played baseball.
He attended the University of Notre Dame for college and was a member of the 1988 National Championship Fightin’ Irish team. He liked to run the ball going into college, but they moved him to the defensive side of the ball. He was a defensive lineman but was converted to linebacker after being drafted by the Rams with the 45th overall pick in the second round of the 1989 NFL Draft.
He had two more significant seasons as a starter in the NFL. The first was in 1990 when he started 13 of the 14 games he played in. The second was in 1994 with the Browns when he started 15 of the 16 games he played in. Those were is best seasons from a statistical perspective as he had more chance to play. In most other season he was not a first stringer.
The Score on Frank Stams – 7.0
Frank has a good size signature. I think normally I like blue marker for blue teams, but given the dark jersey on a lot of these and the busy nature of a football card, the black really cuts through. Overall a great success.
Thanks Mr. Stams! I’m giving this return a 7.
