The Story of the Autograph
Dave Goltz pitched in the majors for twelve season from 1972 through 1983. He pitched for the Twins, Dodgers and Angels over that time and worked as both a right handed starter and a reliever. Prior to his time in baseball, he was a helicopter mechanic for the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Goltz spent the majority of his career in Minnesota. In every year with the Twins he had at least a .500 record. His best year in Minnesota, and for his career, was 1977. During that year he won 20 games and lost 11. He shared the league lead in wins with Jim Palmer and Dennis Leonard and he was sixth in the Cy Young voting that year.
In 1980 he moved on to Los Angeles to join the Dodgers as a free agent. He was part of the Dodgers 1981 World Series Championship team. He pitched in two games for 3.1 innings tat year against the Yankees in the World Series and had a 5.40 ERA.
The Score on Dave Goltz – 6.5
Dave has a solid signature. It’s a pretty standard style, but it’s a pretty good size on the card. While it’s nothing really fancy, it came out well on these cards. I really don’t have a lot of Dave’s cards so I might have to score a bit more and hopefully I can find something of his during his days as a Twin.
Thanks Mr. Goltz! I’m giving these a 6.5.
