The Story of the Autograph

Chirs Perez is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 2008 to 2014 with the St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Perez was born and raised in Florida. He went to IMG Academy and then on to the University of Miami. The Cardinals then drafted him in the first round of the 2006 MLB Draft with the 42nd overall pick. After two years in the minors he made his major league debut on May 16, 2008.

He spent the first season and a half of his career in St. Louis. During that time he played in 70 games and went 4-4 with a 3.72 ERA. He was used as a reliever and even picked up eight saves with the Cardinals including seven in his rookie year. He was traded to the Indians in the middle of the 2009 season with Jess Todd in exchange for Mark DeRosa. Once the Indians traded Kerry Wood in 2010 he became the closer.

He spent four years as the Indians closer with at least 23 saves each of the next four years including a career-high 39 in 2012. That was the second year of his two consecutive All-Star seasons. But while in Cleveland he was critical of fans for the lack of attendance and they would let him feel it.

He finished his major league career with the Dodgers, playing his last game on September 21, 2014. He tried to make it with the Brewers and Orioles but retired in August 2015.

The Score on Chris Perez – 6.5

Chris has a really bunched up signature. I don’t really mind that because it is somewhat original in that not a lot of guys do it. I think the best of these cards would have been the 2012 Topps Allen & Ginter but theres a little smudge, so I’ll go with the 2012 Topps.

Thanks Mr. Perez! I’m giving this return a 6.5.
