The Story of the Autograph

Chris Davis is a power-hitting first baseman whose been in the league since 2008. He’s played for the Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles during that time and has been with Baltimore since 2011.

Davis was born and raised in Texas. He was originally drafted by the Yankees out of high school in 2004 but opted not to sign and instead went to junior college. He was drafted again in 2005, this time by the Angels, and still didn’t sign. But when the Rangers drafted him in 2006 in the fifth round he finally signed.

He made his major league debut for the Rangers on June 26, 2008. While he showed power on the Rangers he definitely didn’t hit for average (and never really has). On top of that he was always playing with some other players the Rangers were trying to make their first baseman. So he went up and down to the minors until he was traded to the Orioles in 2011.

He’s had some great years with the Orioles. In 2013 he made his only All-Star appearance and led the majors with 53 homers and 138 RBI. He led the majors in homers again in 2015 with 47. However, 2015 and 2016 showed the “all-or-nothing” aspect to his game too. Those years he led the league with 208 and 219 strikeouts respectively.

2018 was an absolute miserable season for Davis. He his only .168, which isn’t the first time he’s hit under .200 in his career. But he also only hit 16 bob which he hasn’t done since 2011 when he wasn’t in the league the whole year. Here’s to hoping “Crush” get back to his ways this year.

While I was seeing people get returns back from Chris, I was really surpised to get these back. I halfway wondered if the address was right. I really like his signature and it came out really great on these cards. It’s pretty consistent too because I see it come out similarly for everyone.

Thanks Mr. Davis! I’m giving this return a 7.
