The Story of the Autograph

Carl Lee played cornerback with the Vikings and Saints in the NFL from 1983 through 1994. The vast majority of that time, except for 1994, was spent with the Vikings. He wade the Pro Bowl for three consecutive years from 1988 to 1990 and was a First-team All-Pro in 1988.

Lee is from South Charleston, WV and went to college at Marshall, where he’s since been inducted into their Hall of Fame for his exploits in both Football and Track. In 1983 he was drafted in the seventh round with the 186th overall pick by the Vikings. In his 11 years in Minnesota he started 144 of 169 games and had 29 interceptions and return two for touchdowns. Those two returns came in his best year (1988) when he more than doubled his single season high of interceptions with 8.

In 1994 he moved on to the Saint and started eight of 12 games with 28 tackles and two interceptions. He retired after that year. In 1996 he started coaching at West Virginia State and stayed there until 2005. He had a record of 34-75 as a head coach.

Don’t get me wrong, I like when people sign in silver. Plus I really appreciate the effort to be different. But in the end it really takes the right item and signature to make the silver pen work. Sometimes when you sign really fast with those pens it doesn’t come out as good as possible. Carl’s signature on these kind of feel like that. But the best thing I like about these is that Carl signed so big. It’s great when they take up so much space on the card.

Thanks Mr. Lee!  I’m giving this return a 6.
