The Story of the Autograph
Bryan Millard played as an offensive lineman in the NFL and the USFL from 1983 through 1991. He spent 1983 and 84 with the New Jersey Generals and then 1984 through 1991 with the Seattle Seahawks.
Millard played tackle at Texas. In 1981, he helped the team to a #2 overall ranking in the final AP Poll with a Cotton Bowl win. The next year he earned All-Conference honors, but the team lost in the Sun Bowl and ended up #17 in the AP Poll. He was not drafted in 1983 by the NFL, but the Generals picked him up in the 12th round of the USFL draft. He lead the way for Herschel Walker to run for 1,800+ yards. The next year, both Walker and Maurice Carthon ran for over 1,000 yards each. Then at the end of the season he joined the Seahawks. A good move since the USFL would last only one more year.
He was a backup in his first year, but started nine games at left tackle the next year. In 1986 he moved to right guard and played there until the end of his career. He was part of a team that had some good offensive talent through the years: Dave Krieg, Steve Largent, Curt Warner and John Williams. They were a winning team in the late 80’s and made the playoffs in 1987 and 1988. Millar was a good part of that until injuries forced him to retire.
The Score on Bryan Millard – 5.5
Bryan has a pretty solid signature. I love the size. He really uses a lot of the card and that 1991 Pacific card is the best example of how much of the card he takes up. In the end though there isn’t anything extremely exciting about the style of his autograph. Plus the other card is jut kind of dark where he signed – which is pretty much the exactly place where it’s natural to sign the card.
Thanks Mr. Millard! I’m giving these a 5.5.
