The Story of the Autograph
Bob Milacki pitched in the majors for eight seasons from 1988 through 1994 and then for the 1996 season. He spent the majority of his time in Baltimore but then made stops in Cleveland, Kansas City and Seattle.
Milacki’s first game was as a September call-up in 1988 on September 18. He went 2-0 in three starts to finish out that year and only allowed two earned runs over 25 innings pitched. The next year he was with the big club and as a rookie was among the league leaders with 37 games started. He went 14-12 that year wit a 3.74 ERA. He pitched an odd game that year where he had a complete game shutout and faced the minimum of 27 batters, but he allowed three hits and two walks.
In 1991 he was part of a combined no-hitter against the Oakland A’s on July 13th. Milacki pitched the first six innings and was pulled from the game after he was hit by a batted ball in the arm. Mike Flanagan, Mark Williamson and Gregg Olson each followed up with a no-hit inning after that. After becoming a free agent in 1992 he went to the Indians, Royals, and Mariners but only pitched 22 games in those three seasons. He went over to Japan in 1997 and pitched in six games.
Milacki has been a pitching coach in the minors since 2001 and this year was spent with the Carolina Mudcats who are an affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Score on Bob Milacki – 6.5
Bob as a solid signature. It’s nothing really special, but he used a great marker on these and they all came out well. Two of the cards are really dark though with either a dark uniform or a dark background to deal with. The ’92 Upper Deck that he put the inscription in is great. When I first saw it I didn’t really know what it was because I thought it said “C.W.H” but it says “C.N.H” for “combined no-hitter”.
Thanks Mr. Milacki! I’m giving these a 6.5.
