The Story of the Autograph

Bill Heath is a former catcher in the major leagues. He played from 1965 to 1969 with the Chicago White Sox, Houston Astros, Detroit Tigers, and Chicago Cubs.

Heath was born and raised in California and wen to the University of Southern California. The Phillies signed him as an amateur free agent in July of 1960. They would trade him to the White Sox in a deal for Rudy May in 1964 and he would make his debut with them the following year on October 3rd, the final day of the season.

The White Sox traded him to Houston where he would get the best chance of his career. In 1966 he played in 55 games and hit .301 with eight RBI. His contract would get purchased several times through the rest of his career. Ultimately he would play in 112 games and hit .236 with no home runs and 13 RBI. He played his final major league game on August 19, 1969.

This is just a great old catcher card from Bill. The pose, the hat, the glove on… all great. It’s a nice card to show off Bill’s signature, although I don’t know how many cards he really has to get signed. This might be it. But the blue goes well with the Cubbies uniform.
