The Story of the Autograph

Bill Almon is a former major league baseball player who started out as a shortstop and then became more of a utility player working at third base, second base and the outfield positions. He played from 1974 through 1988 with the Padres, Expos, Mets (twice), White Sox, Athletics, Pirates, and Phillies.

Almon was a first pverall draft pick of the Padres in 1974 after playing his college ball at Brown University. He made his major league debut on September 2, 1974 after only 39 games in the minors.

After only a few appearances in those first few years with the Padres, he finally made it for good and took over at shortstop by playing in 155 games in 1977. His best year might have been 1983 with the White Sox. During that year he played in 103 games and hit .301 with 4 homers, 41 RBI and 16 stolen bases. None of those were career highs but it seems like he put it all together overall that year.

The Score on Bill Almon – 6.5

BraveSTARR Score LogoBraveSTARR Score 6.5

Bill has a pretty standard-looking signature. But the thing is it almost always comes out looking good. It’s not necessarily big or anything like that but he always does it cleanly. The only thing that stops it from looking clean can be the cards as a couple of these bled just a little bit.

Thanks Mr. Almon! This return gets a 6.5.
