The Story of the Autograph
Andy LaRoche is a former in third baseman in the major leagues. He played during six seasons between 2007 and 2013 for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Oakland Athletics and Toronto Blue Jays.
LaRoche is was born and raised in Fort Scott, Kansas. He is the son of former pitcher Dave LaRoche and the brother of former first baseman Adam LaRoche. He was drafted twice before becoming a major leaguer. The first was by the San Diego Padres in the 21st round of the 2002 MLB Draft but he didn’t sign. The second time he was drafted in the 39th round of the 2003 MLB Draft by the Dodgers.
After a few years in the minors he made his major league debut on May 6, 2007. He would play for the Dodgers into 2008 when he was traded to the Pirates as part of a three team deal, the big pieces of which were the Red Sox sending Manny Ramirez to the Dodgers and the Red Sox receiving Jason Bay. He would spend the next three seasons in Pittsburgh, more than any place else in his career. He his .226 there with 19 home runs and 92 RBI in 301 games.
After being designated for assignment by the Pirates he moved around a lot both in the major leagues and the minor leagues and was playing through 2016. In more recent years he’s been coaching in the minors.

I would say that Andy’s signature is closer to that of his dad than his brother. It’s a little loosy-goosy and less defined like his dad’s. The black marker works well on this Pirates card. It helps that he’s wearing a white uniform though.
