The Story of the Autograph
George Frazier is a former right-handed pitcher in the major leagues. He played from 1978 to 1987 with the Cardinals, Yankees, Indians, Cubs, and Twins.
Frazier was born in Oklahoma but was raised in Missouri. He was a great athlete in high school and was offered a scholarship in baseball, football and basketball. He was first drafted out of high school in the 13th round of the 1972 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers but never signed. He instead went to college at Oklahoma. He was then drafted four years later by the Brewers in the ninth round of the 1976 MLB Draft.
He never played for the Brewers though. In 1977 he was traded to the Cardinals for Buck Martinez. He saw his first action in the majors the next year on May 25, 1978 and started a long career as a relief pitcher. The Cardinals moved him to the Yankees during the 1981 season and then they traded him to the Indians in 1984 in a deal involving Otis Nixon and Toby Harrah among others.
Frazier was involved in two other trades in his career and one was within month of the deal that brought him to the Indians. He was dealt to the Cubs with Rick Sutcliffe for Joe Carter and others. Then in 1986, in probably the move that was the best for him, he was sent to the Twins.
Why would that trade be important? Because it allowed him to be part of the Twins 1987 World Championship team. In 1981 Frazier was with the Yankees and lost three games of a World Series that went to seven games (other than a Blacksox player). But while I don’t know if you can say he redeemed himself, he pitched well in the one game he appeared in for the 1987 World Series.

George has a great and maybe somewhat classic style of signature. I would be his signature would look pretty great on a ball. These are all pretty busy or dark cards, but it’s nice to have him on these cards specifically. These are all the teams he went to the postseason with.
