The Story of the Autograph
John Stefero is a form back up catcher in the major leagues. He played in 1983 and 1986 for the Orioles and then in 1987 for the Expos.
Stefero was born in Sumter, South Carlina. He went to Motlow State Community College in Tennessee before being signed as an amateur free agent by the Orioles in 1979. His career was mostly spent in the minors and he made his major league debut on June 24, 1983. He played only nine games that season. He would appear in 52 more games in 1986 for the Birds before being traded to the Expos as the player to be named later to go with Dennis Martinez.
He played in 79 total games with 210 plate appearances. He hit .235 with three homers and 20 RBI for his career. He ended his career as a professional ball player in 1990. These days he is the President/GM of a car dealership chain.
The Score on John Stefero – 6.0
John has a pretty sizeable signature. One of the 1987 Topps cards was not as good as the other as it smudged a bit. But these two came out really well in the end and he used a good, strong marker.
Thanks Mr. Stefero! I’m giving this return a 6.
